Global Greens 2008 On-lineGlobal Greens 2008 was a fantastic success, attended by 700--800 participants from 88 countries. Delegates agreed to take the next steps towards building the Global Greens by establishing a Global Greens Information Centre/Secretariat. The Congress was dedicated to Ingrid Betancourt and political prisoners everywhere, and Ingrid was unanimously made 'President of Honor' of the Global Greens in recognition of her heroism in the pursuit of truth and justice in Colombia and for the world. She has been held prisoner by the FARC guerillas of Colombia since February 2002, together with hundreds of others; their freedom is a common campaign of the Greens. The declarations and resolutions adopted by Global Greens 2008 are listed on this site. Registered users are welcome to post comments and to comment on information posted by others. Occupational and environmental health - natural partners
Hi folks,
I strongly suggest that when you include occupational health whenever possible within the scope of environmental health issues. Workers are exposed to the same hazardous materials that contaminate the environment and the communities beyond industry property. Collective and individual voices are suppressed by the fear that speaking out about occupational and environmental health could cost jobs. We are led to believe that lifestyle issues rather than occupational and environmental exposures are the primary source of rising cancer rates. Independent research consistently shows that the opposite is true. So please consider occupational and environmental health together, wherever possible in your considerations. Many thanks for the opportunity to contribute.
