Future Climate and its impacts could well trigger bloody wars fought over access to basic necessities like drinking water.The green house effect is causing melting of mountain glaciers that are precious reservoirs of clean water leading to water insecurity in the long term on the one hand and glacial related disasters like GLOFs in the form of Mountain Tsunamis on the other hand.That means not only would the melt destroy the world’s freshwater reservoirs but it is also projected to cause floods and droughts, reduce the area of arable land, adversely impact fish and food stock causing food insecurity and hunger too. That in turn could trigger large movement of populations to safer areas. There will be increase in the number of climate refugees whose livelihood will totally be at greater risk. Large scale migration and huge competition for limited resources could become a serious security challenge.

Therefore, A special body with green representatives from all countries and supported by contributing scientists, sociologists, conflict managers, disaster management experts should be formed to issue global and region-specific guidelines to face and overcome the possible dangers from climatic threat in time. The body needs to be supervised buy the United Nations.

Additionally, the link between the risk of accelerating climate change and that of violent conflicts and wars which puts question mark on global security should be the subject of political debate and action.
