Dhaka Declaration

An 'International Civil Society Conference: the Rights of the Most Vulnerable Countries (MVCs) in climate Negotiations' was organised in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka from 27th - 29th July 2009. Civil society representatives from 19 different countries (Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands) most vulnerable to climate impacts gathered to work out on their rights in climate negotiations. They consider that the impacts of climate change are already hitting them hard and that their survival is at stake.

Making a strong statement that "Survival is Not Negotiable", they came out with a strong demand that needs to be enshrined in the Copenhagen climate pact. Their voice demanding strong action is reflected in the Dhaka Declaration.
